Education for Hope

Dear All,

As you all know,  the 16^th of April we had our annual party to support Education for Hope.

The party was great.  We had about 200 guests, good music, activities and a lot of fun.

Many friends helped us with preparing the location and during the party fulfilling all tasks.

Everyone was great and we are extremely appreciative of all the contribution.  Thank you all. 

We are very happy to inform you that we collected € 3000.

With this amount,  we are be able to pay the school for our children, but we will not be able to pay the medical expenses.

Time passes quickly and we are not aware of the harsh reality of  the children in over Ethiopia. In Ethiopia,  thing are still happening.   

Giordana  faces every day sad stories like  families who have nothing to eat knocking at her door, young girls suffering from violence, children becoming homeless and mothers telling her that their children need to go to work instead of studying.   As a matter of fact, we just  heard that two of our older children that we support  are about to be taken out of school because the family needs them to go to work. 

We have persuaded the parents to allow the two older children to continue an extra year that will give them a practical training ( receptionist, cook, secretary or hairdresser .)   We will provide one more year of support in after they finish grade 12.  At this point, sending the children to the university is not an option for the parents.  On the other hand,  we are happy to know that the parents agree to the extra year of a  practical training . The families of these two children are supported by Women”s Circle which  is a non-profit organization that helps women in need and it helps them pay rent as well as feeding them.  However, we still need to help out the children and for this, WE NEED YOU.

The school is almost finishing in Ethiopia and in July we will need to collect some more money to have enough also for the medical expenses.

The yearly fee for supporting one child remains € 70  for the next school year: 2011-2012, but of course every amount is welcome.

The goal of Education for Hope is to send children to school in Ethiopia and provide them with medical care if they need it. We hope that they will be the ones who will, in the near future, make a positive change to the economic and social conditions of the country.
